Creating a custom ubuntu disk

This should be done in a virtual machine, otherwise you'll waste a lot of time burning cd's and waiting for physical hardware to boot.

  • download ubuntu iso (for the fp machines I used ubuntu-server_10.10_amd64.iso)
  • mount disk, copy contents to new location, rsync -av /cdrom /opt/cd-image
  • create preseed file with appropriate options
  • modify isolinux.cfg, add new label that points to preseed file.
  • extra packages to dist
  • run create_indices.sh
  • sign the repo with sign_repo.sh
  • create new iso with make_iso.sh
